About Hummingbird Ranch
I have always been interested in farming. So It was natural, almost a given
that when I managed to buy a small piece of property that I would plant a
garden which I did.
Then on a trip to the local Agway, I was drawn to a screened pen housing
several dozen baby chicks. Thus began the career of the egg farmer.
I have been making maple syrup for myself for years and since the property
had a large amount of sugar maples, it was logical I incorporate this into my
farm.
To round out my farm I decided on raising honey bees. They are fascinating
and provide so many natural products.
I planted Lavender to make Lavender Honey. I was surprised to find out
how many uses there are for lavender products.
We now have 4 Bee Yards, 2 in Clinton NY, one on my property adn one on
the Hackett Farm. We have 2 yards in the Goshen area both on Madera
farms. This is where we get the Buckwheat and Sage Honey and hopefully
this year Rosemary honey.
Additionally we have arranged with a beekeeper in California to have
Tupelo, Eucalyptus, Avocado and Alfalfa Honey and from a beekeeper in
Florida we have Orange blossom Honey.
